This potentially transformational sermon series was held in mid 2014.
It is based on the “Finding New Life in the Spirit” seminar series and study booklet which was developed in the early 1970s. Its relevance has not diminished and is applicable to Christians of all denominations.
The series helps us to discover all the spiritual wealth that God wants to give you and to find a deeper life in God.
God also speaks to you when you are alone, and He will do much for us when we spend time with Him.
A short summary of each week’s talk follows below . A recording of each sermon and the various handouts may also be accessed via the links provided.
For preparation, you may wish to read about the work of the Holy Spirit and life in the early church in Acts 2:1-13; 4:32-36 and 6:1-7.
Pray that the Lord will open your heart as you read them, perhaps over a few days.

Summary of talks
(adapted from http://www.ledburycatholicchurch.org.uk/lifeinthespirit.htm)
1. God’s love
The first talk is about God’s love for us. It’s about hope and the promise of what he is offering: – that ongoing personal relationship between a loving father and his children.
2. Salvation
This talk is about who Jesus is and what he does.
In other words the basic gospel message.: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only son so that everyone who believes in Him may not die but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).
God sent His Son Jesus to give us new life and to reveal the Father’s love. Through His life, death and resurrection, Jesus is Shepherd, Healer, Lord and Saviour.
3. New Life
The third talk is about the fact that The Gospel – The Good News – really is good news and that a new life is available through a fuller reception of the Holy Spirit.
This new life centres on an experiential relationship with Jesus. “ I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.” (John 10:10)
4. Receiving God’s gift
This talk is about preparation. We have heard about God’s love, our need for Salvation, the promise of new life and now we have the choice of receiving the gift God is freely offering and living it.
5. Growth
This week we are encouraged to grow in the life of the Spirit through prayer, our community, Scripture and the Sacraments. Baptism in the Spirit is an ongoing process and it involves time and attention so that we can grow in our relationship with the Lord.
6. Transformation in Christ
The last session is to add more encouragement to us in growing in our new life and how we can serve the church with our new spiritual awareness and gifts.
